Frequently asked questions
Is it possible to regenerate the tungsten carbide layer?
Parts can be plated very exact also in hardly accessible areas. The plating is also possible with embedded machine parts without any covering.
What type of part geometries can be plated?
Parts can be plated very exact also in hardly accessible areas. The plating is also possible with embedded machine parts without any covering.
Is it necessary to plate the whole part?
Parts can be plated fractional; also different layers on the same part are possible.
Which materials can be plated?
Soft and hard materials from tool steel, titan, stainless steel, PM-Steels ect.
Is it possible to plate hardened steel?
Yes, because the parts don't heat up during the plating process.
Is it necessary to rework plated parts?
If necessary grinding or lapping with diamond is possible.
Which surface quality can be reached?
It is possible to produce very smooth (Ra. 1,0 µm – wear treatment for guide slide bearing) or abrasive (Ra > 4,5 µm - avoiding slippery for chuck tools)
Can the tungsten carbide layer be used to repair worn out parts?
One advantage of our tungsten carbide layer is the reconstruction of the dimensional accuracy of worn out tools and parts like cutting or measurement dies.
Is the tungsten carbide layer resistant against acid?
Yes, the layer is resistant against chromium acid (30%), hydrochloride acid and organic acids like citric acid, provided that the base material is also resistant.
Is the tungsten carbide layer conductive?
The conductivity depends on the base material. There is no difference with steel. With titanium the conductivity is better.
